BIO- Wayne Allyn Root, Libertarian Party Vice Presidential Nominee
Wayne Allyn Root is the 2008 Libertarian Party Vice Presidential nominee. He is one half of the high-profile Presidential ticket of
BARR/ROOT. Wayne is telegenic, dynamic, charismatic, enthusiastic, fiery, passionate, opinionated, and OUTSPOKEN in his Libertarian
beliefs for limited government, lower taxes, dramatically reduced spending and more freedom for the American people.
Wayne is one of the most recognized sports celebrities in America. He is known to millions of sports fans and gaming enthusiasts. The American media has dubbed
him "The King of Vegas," and
"America's Oddsmaker." Wayne is proud of his Las Vegas, Nevada roots. Nevada is a state known for independence, self-reliance, personal responsibility, rugged
individualism, more freedom for the individual, smaller government, and anti-tax fervor. Nevada has no state income taxes, no business income taxes, no
inheritance taxes and property taxes that are limited by law. Wayne believes the biggest (and best) difference between Las Vegas and D.C. is that in Vegas, the
people gamble with their own money- as opposed to Washington D.C. where the politicians gamble with the taxpayers' money.
Wayne's resume is a throwback to our Founding Fathers. He is the quintessential "ANTI-Politician."
He is a second generation American; small businessman (and son and grandson of small businessmen); home-school father of 4 young children (Dakota, Hudson,
Remington and Contessa); and the classic citizen politician. He oversees his small business and his family, while running for Vice President of the United
States. He has never worked (directly or indirectly) for or with any state or federal government. None of his small businesses have ever done business with the
government. He has never collected a check from government (other than a student loan). He has never worked in Washington D.C. He has never done business with a
lobbyist. In an age of Beltway Insiders, Wayne is a complete Washington D.C. outsider.
Wayne's rags-to-riches story is truly remarkable. He was born into humble roots as the son of a butcher. He has since morphed into small businessman, CEO and
entrepreneur; best-selling author; TV producer, host and celebrity spokesman; and frequent national television and radio guest.
He is the author of six books-including a national political bestseller. He has served as the Creator, Executive Producer and star of shows such as "King of
Vegas" on Spike TV and "Wayne Allyn Root's WinningEDGE." He started his television career as a host and anchorman at Financial News Network (now
CNBC).
Wayne has been profiled by CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Success, Fortune, Millionaire, Equities, The Robb Report, CNN/Money and EMMY magazine (among many
others). He is a frequent guest on talk shows on CNBC, CNBC Europe, Bloomberg Europe, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Sports Net, MSNBC, CNN, and
many others. His radio appearances include The Mancow Show, The Glenn Beck Program, The Michael Medved show, The Michael Reagan Show, 50,000 watt superstations
like KABC in Los Angeles and WABC in New York, and thousands of sports talk shows across the country.
Wayne is the youngest-ever recipient of his own star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. His 180 pound granite star appears on the sidewalk in front
of New York New York. Only 25 stars have ever been awarded. Wayne joins such Las Vegas legends as Wayne Newton, Sammy Davis Jr., Liberace, Siegfried & Roy,
Bobby Darin and Rich Little.
Wayne is a "Lifetime Member" of the Libertarian Party. He resides in Henderson, Nevada with his wife of 17 years Debra, and their 4 children- Dakota (16), Hudson
(8), Remington Reagan (3) and Contessa Churchill (5 months).
