What Will Obama Do if Egyptian-Style Crisis, Unrest & Revolt Hits America?

By Wayne Allyn Root, Former Libertarian Vice Presidential Nominee and Best-Selling Author

Barack Obama and the U.S. government have called for a “peaceful transition” in Egypt, in response to massive protests, riots and escalating anarchy. But I wonder if President Obama is taking notes? I wonder if he realizes just how close America is to facing a similar crisis that could result in riots, revolt in the streets, and economic paralysis. I wonder if President Obama would act much different than President Mubarak in Egypt. So far, small signs hint that Obama might turn out to be just as intolerant to dissent as Mubarak.

Think it couldn’t happen here? Think again. Let’s review the economic crisis that America faces at this very moment. Just in the days since Obama’s State of the Union speech there have been numerous signs that the U.S. faces an economic Armageddon. Dark storm clouds are fast approaching:

* The U.S. budget deficit is far more than even economic experts imagined.

* Unemployment is up yet again -- far more than the experts projected.

*Social Security shortfalls are bigger and have happened sooner than any expert predicted -- a decade sooner.

*Fourth Quarter GDP was lower than projected -- and even the figure released was merely the result of the Fed printing fake money 24 hours a day, to create false consumer confidence, to prop up a U.S. economy that is falling off a cliff.

* The foreclosure crisis is deepening beyond what any expert imagined. As a result, real estate prices are falling even further, thereby threatening not only consumer spending, but the very survival of major banks.

* Inflation is skyrocketing on the two things that matter most -- food and energy prices. One more disaster -- perhaps the fall of Egypt, leading to an oil crisis -- could lead to a hyperinflation that could turn America into a combination of Zimbabwe and the Weimar Republic.

* We already face economic Armageddon on a state and local level. U.S. cities, counties and states are teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. Their grave financial condition is the result of massive unsustainable spending and debt, caused in large part by irresponsible public employee salaries, pensions and health benefits. The worst part of this crisis is that the stimulus money is gone and the federal government is bankrupt, unable to bail itself out, let alone the cities, counties and states.

*There are early signs of revolt and anarchy here in America -- with a record number of policemen shot and killed during a two-week period in January.

* The Middle East threatens to turn into a powder keg that could lead not to democracy, but to radical Islamic control of many Arab countries. This grave new threat to America, American interests, and the survival of our ally Israel, would lead to more military spending and a potential oil crisis that could engulf and overwhelm the U.S. economy. In our current vulnerable economic state this tragedy could set off a worldwide economic panic.

* Japan’s credit rating was downgraded on what most economists agree is a disastrous slide toward oblivion. Japan’s debt is so huge it can never be repaid. As one famous economist describes the crisis they are facing: “Japan is a bug in search of a windshield.” Japan’s impending implosion could also trigger a worldwide economic panic.

* Spain just announced unemployment of over 20%. Not only does this news threaten the survival of the EU, it also drives a stake through Obama’s strategy for saving the U.S. economy by creating green jobs. Spain proves there is no market for green jobs. The whole idea is a mirage created by leftist progressive politicians desperately grasping for straws.

Can you imagine that all of this toxic news has occurred in only the few days since Obama’s State of the Union? Our economy, our country, and global conditions are deteriorating faster than any expert imagined. The threats we face are unprecedented. Although they are running the presses 24/7, our Fed can’t print money fast enough to keep up with deteriorating conditions.

Our “real” U.S. unemployment may in fact be close to 20%. Among youth and minorities unemployment may be well over 30%. For the first time in modern history, there are few jobs for millions of new college graduates, while they each face education debt of $100,000 or more. There are seemingly no jobs at all for minority youth without college educations. All at the same time that prices are exploding for basic essentials. Sound familiar? Those are the exact same incendiary ingredients that led to revolt, revolution, and anarchy in Egypt.

So how will President Obama react to massive protests, riots, and revolt in the USA? Will he choose to shut down the Internet? He criticizes Mubarak, yet Obama is already asking Congress for the authority to do just that (without judicial review). Will Obama cut off access to Facebook and Twitter? Will he try to shut down talk radio and FOX News? Obama and his Democratic allies have already suggested doing that (before a true crisis) with “The Fairness Act.” Will Obama attempt to ban guns? He has already come out strongly in support of gun control or bans on numerous occasions before he was even elected President. Will Obama call in the military to contain the riots of unemployed, hungry, angry youth here in America’s biggest cities? Will he allow free speech -- even if massive protests call for Obama to step down?

Is Obama taking notes in Egypt? He had better. Because Egypt’s crisis could eventually be coming to a city near you.

Obama’s State of Union: Cash for Flunkers: What Obama’s State of Union Speech Has in Common with Taco Bell

By Wayne Allyn Root, Former Libertarian Vice Presidential Nominee and Best-Selling Author

I agree with the liberal blogosphere- Obama’s State of the Union was “Reaganesque.” Well written and well delivered. Awe-inspiring. Except that it was all distortions, false promises, and bait and switch. Don’t believe a word. It was pure sales and marketing, with zero substance. It was the same old “Cash for Flunkers.” Failed programs renamed “investments” in order to sell the con.

Obama’s State of the Union reminds me of the Taco Bell lawsuit in the news this same week. California consumers are suing Taco Bell for calling an item on their menu a “beef taco.” The class-action lawsuit claims that the “beef taco” barely has any beef in it -- less than 35% to be exact. Instead, the lawsuit claims it contains isolated oat product, binders and extenders.

Well, that beef taco would make Obama proud. There’s no meat in Obama’s product either. Obama knows his audience likes meat, so he mixes in a spoonful of meat, along with isolated oat product, binders, extenders and other assorted artificial rubbish that tastes a little like meat. He wins your support with the bait and switch. But there is no substance. Where's the beef? When Obama is done with the Presidency, he has the perfect skills to serve as CEO of Taco Bell.

Obama’s real State of the Union is just more campaign payola. Can you imagine if we played a game of “What does he really mean?” Just substitute “wasted government spending and debt for the same old failed programs” every time Obama used the word “investment” in the State of the Union speech. That’s the unvarnished truth -- without the sales and marketing, without the bait and switch.

Why call it “Cash for Flunkers?” Because spending billions of extra dollars on education is not an “investment.” It’s just more money down the drain for the same programs and ideas that have already led to the disastrous catastrophic failure of the U.S. education system. We already spend the most in the world for the worst results. Why would we reward failure with extra billions of dollars? If spending money works, why do New York, California and Washington D.C. spend the most per-pupil in the country, with miserable failing results? The Dept of Education budget doubled under President Bush. Anyone think education is twice as good after spending twice the money? Actually it got worse. If spending money works, why did we spend an EXTRA $100 billion in stimulus money last year on education and get no improvement? If spending money works, why are public school teachers paid far more than private or religious school teachers, yet produce far worse results?

The answer is that the only “investment” Obama cares about is bribery. Payback. Payola. Obama wants to “invest” billions more of your money in teachers unions to reward them for their Democratic campaign contributions. The same teachers unions that have failed our kids for decades. It’s just “Cash for Flunkers.”

Obama also wants to “invest” in Green Energy. Another failed idea. His idea of an “investment” is to give away billions of dollars of your money to his biggest campaign contributors -- led by GE. This is about Jeffrey Imelt, the CEO of GE who has bet the ranch on Green Energy. GE survives nowadays on government “investments.” Bailouts, stimulus, tax credits. But these “investments” have no return. Government “invests” with taxpayer money, Democratic contributors get rich, and nothing ever comes back. The bonus is we add billions to the deficit and debt of our children and grandchildren. Great deal for GE. For the rest of us -- not so great.

If the Green Energy business worked, the private sector would be investing billions without any help from government. But Green Energy doesn’t work. It loses billions. It’s a never-ending money pit. No smart CEO in the private sector would invest a dime in Green Energy without obscene incentives from government, so government gives out billion dollar gifts like it’s Christmas. The truth is that the “green economy” is a wonderful liberal fairy-tale. A recycled failure (excuse the pun). Green Energy is as real as Global Warming. Ask Spain. Spain has the greenest economy in all of Europe. They built their entire economy around the idea of Global Warming and “green jobs.” Like Obama they chose to call it an “investment.” They have 20% unemployment. Is that Obama’s goal for America? Keep “investing” in Obama’s ideas. Trust me, 20% unemployment is within reach.

In the end, the word “investment” is unconstitutional. It never appears in the U.S. Constitution for a reason. Because government isn’t allowed to “invest.” Our Founding Fathers understood that government isn’t capable of choosing winners versus losers. They knew that government is inherently corrupt and incompetent. They knew that if government was allowed to “invest”, it would always choose to payback campaign contributors. It would always choose to “invest” with the same suspects -- banks, Wall Street firms, AIG, GE, Green Energy companies -- that gave millions in campaign donations to the politicians. They knew government would choose to invest in failures -- “Cash for Flunkers.” That’s why President Obama gets an “F” as President. He’s a good talker, but there is no beef in his taco.

The Obama Great Depression: Why There Will Be No Jobs.

The Community-Organizer-in-Chief Forms Unholy Alliance Between Big Brother and Big Business

Poor Obama. He just has no idea how to create a job. He’s changed strategy by 180 degrees…and he’s still grasping at straws. That’s what happens when you hire a community organizer as President. Obama’s previous experience at creating jobs was to extort them in protests against big corporations. But that approach doesn‘t work when you’re President. The President can’t count “jobs extorted.” That is why poor Obama is grasping at straws.

The first desperate act of Obama’s Presidency was to play the socialism card. He thought if government took control over vast swaths of industry -- banking, autos, student loans, and healthcare -- that would create jobs. Instead job losses accelerated. Then Obama guessed that if government threw large sums of money into job creation that would certainly solve the problem. He soon found that any job created by government costs obscene amounts of money and actually takes a job (or two) away from the private sector.

Then he gave a huge welfare payment disguised as a “tax cut” to his voters -- people that never created a job or paid taxes. That added more debt, but didn't create one job. Next there was a jobs bill that created exactly -0- jobs. Then there were multiple attempts at massive tax hikes. No dice. The American people were repelled. Worse, American business reacted to the uncertainty by killing more jobs, or shipping them overseas -- where taxes are lower. The community organizer was stumped.

Back to work organizing more nasty, socialist, job-killing bills such as Obamacare, Cap and Trade, and Card Check. You gotta love Obama’s enthusiasm for unions. Card Check makes it easy to unionize the entire country -- even small businesses with 5 employees. Why not? After all, the states with the highest number of union members all lead the country in moving vans leaving the state. And of course we all know how well unions worked out for the automakers, U.S. Postal Service, and government-run public schools. But hey, the desperate community organizer was running out of options.

For good measure Obama threw in lots of sermons to demonize business. That backfired. Unemployment went up, the American people (who are employed by business) got angry, and Obama’s Democratic Party suffered the worst landslide in modern political history.

So, now poor desperate Obama had to re-organize (kind of like a bankruptcy). The marxists, union organizers, lawyers, and Ivy League eggheads he appointed to every level of government weren’t working. So he changed direction 180 degrees -- Obama embraced business. Or so the lefty media tried to convince us. But Obama hasn’t embraced business. He has embraced BIG BUSINESS…i.e. corporate America. He has sold out to the biggest companies in America at the expense of small business. He has brought in the CEO of GE and the Daley family to run things. That’s like putting the mob in charge of an entire city. That didn’t work out so well in Chicago. But hey, it’s the only trick Obama has left.

Hiring William Daley may make Wall Street smile, but it won’t create one job on Main Street. He’s the son of the royal family of Chicago. They’ve never created a job in their lives -- they’ve taxed, extorted, and zoned in return for favors and money. Daley is a $10 million per year Wall Street big shot. He knows as much about creating jobs on Main Street as the old King of England. And as far as Jeffrey Immelt, the CEO of GE who now heads Obama’s Economic Council…he’s merely along for the ride so he can arm twist the community-organizer-in-chief for another few hundred billion dollars in stimulus funds and solar energy tax breaks for GE.

Here’s the brutal reality. The great community organizer has in fact joined hands with big business in an unholy alliance that will destroy even more jobs. I have nothing against big business. In fact, I love capitalism. But nothing is more dangerous for society than crony capitalism. The alliance of big business in bed with big government distorts capitalism. Together this group’s goal is to create more laws, rules and regulations that destroy the ability of any small business to survive, so that big business holds the monopoly (and all the special interest tax breaks). They want only multi-national companies with armies of lawyers, lobbyists and accountants to survive -- a world where the only employers are big government and big business. They want a hybrid of socialism mixed with fascism-- a form of corporatism.

Poor desperate Obama has chosen the wrong path once again. America is built on a foundation of small business. Most of the taxes and jobs are created by small business and small entrepreneurial start-ups. Seventy percent or more of new jobs are created by mom and pop businesses. Since 1980 not one net job has been created by big business- the entire increase of net jobs was created by companies with 200 or fewer employees. Yet Obama has now morphed Big Brother with big business to “save the economy.” Remember when Obama talked of "saving jobs." That didn't work out too well either. Every time our President mentions "saving us" we should run the other way.

Desperate people make bad choices. Obama has chosen a path to power, not a path to economic recovery. He may have helped his chances of re-election, but I fear he has dealt one final deathblow to the economy. There will be few new jobs in this Obama Great Depression.

The Progressive Model of Tax & Spend is Dead — Even in New York

It's amazing to me that there are still a few people in America pushing the dinosaur called “the progressive agenda.” How can anyone demand bigger government, more services, higher spending, and higher taxes in the middle of a financial Armageddon? That’s not a progressive agenda. It’s a bankruptcy agenda. These people aren’t liberals, they are fossils. It's a far different world out there -- perhaps they haven't noticed. But the proof is found in my old home state of New York, and my new adopted home state of Nevada.

There is a dramatic and truly amazing lesson developing right now in New York. The newly elected Governor of New York is Democrat Andrew Cuomo. He is the son of one of the heroes of big government "tax and spend" liberalism -- former New York Governor Mario Cuomo. Yet this new and improved Cuomo refuses to raise taxes one cent. He is demanding a "radical shift" in the way New York is run (headline quoted from the liberal New York Times). That "radical shift" is built around the idea of dramatic cuts in services, smaller government, far fewer government employees and agencies, and reigning in public employee unions. As a lifelong fiscal conservative, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Cuomo promises to reduce the entire $10 billion deficit with $10 billion in spending cuts. He is pro-business and refuses to use "class warfare" to incite jealousy and hatred. Amen.

Most remarkable of all, even with a $10 billion budget deficit, this new generation of Cuomo is actually allowing a "Wealth Tax" (a higher tax on wealthy New Yorkers) to expire. Ending this wealth tax will cost the state of New York an extra billion dollars. This Cuomo says that if New York doesn't stop raising taxes on the rich and business, there will be no businesses or rich left to tax. Who does this guy think he is -- me?

In short, the "progressive" agenda is dying before our very eyes. Even New York Democrats have had enough of high taxes necessary to pay toll takers $100,000 per year in retirement. Even New Yorkers have had it with sanitation workers who make $90,000 per year, but can't manage to clear the streets in a blizzard. Even New Yorkers are in shock over the bankruptcy of OTB (Off Track Betting). Government is so pathetic in New York, they’ve managed to pull off the impossible -- run the gambling business into bankruptcy! How did this happen? There were far too many OTB employees (all cronies of government bureaucrats and politicians), collecting bloated salaries and obscene pensions at the expense of taxpayers. The goose that laid the golden egg was finally killed by the greed and incompetence of big government. I figured this all out 20 years ago and escaped from New York.

Let New York serve as proof that the entire country will soon be moving TOWARDS the model of my adopted home state of Nevada. What is the Nevada model? It’s simple. It’s the model of the United States Constitution -- government should do as little as possible, leave the rest to the people and the private sector, and then get the heck out of the way. Nevada’s model is smaller government, lower spending, reduced services, fewer government employees, and lower taxes. Does it work? Ask the U.S. Census Bureau. Nevada is once again the fastest growing state in America -- for the fifth straight decade. It's no coincidence or luck when you're #1 for 50 years in a row.

Does Nevada have financial problems despite that philosophy of smaller government? You bet. Like the other 49 states, Nevada spent irresponsibly for the past decade. We spent money we didn't have. That's not a tax problem. That's a spending addiction. It's time for our states to enter rehab.

Brian Sandoval, the newly elected Governor of Nevada, is a fiscal conservative who promises to close the budget gap without raising one cent in taxes. Like New York Governor Cuomo, he’s even promising to allow about a billion dollars of temporary tax increases enacted a few years ago to expire. That’s called courage. If our Governor holds true to his promise, I predict Nevada will be #1 out of 50 states for many more decades to come.

Cities, counties and states across America are facing financial disaster and bankruptcy due to unsustainable spending and debt. Higher taxes aren't the answer -- it is America’s highest tax states that are facing the worst ruin. The lesson is clear -- higher taxes lead to even higher spending, deficit and debt. Higher taxes are used to hire more government employees, at higher salaries, with bigger pensions. This progressive agenda leads to economic ruin all over the world. Ask New York. Ask California. Or ask the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain). They all suffer from the same maladies -- big government, bloated spending, big pensions, unsustainable deficits, powerful unions, and too many government employees trying to leech off too few taxpayers. It’s a dying model.

Perhaps liberals, progressives, and the Obama socialist cabal need to watch the news once in a while. If they did, they’d see the greatest example of all. Even communist Cuba is cutting 500,000 government employees, promising to cut another 500,000 soon, and asking its citizens to stop expecting so much from government. Thankfully, the progressive model of big government is dead.

The key to success in life is often what lessons you learn from failure, tragedy and challenge. Back in 1996, I wrote a book about it called, “The Joy of Failure.” Unfortunately, I’ve found in life that many (if not most) people learn the wrong lessons. I’ve found liberals/progressives almost always learn the wrong lesson. It is happening again. The Gabrielle Giffords tragedy of last weekend in Tucson, Arizona is Exhibit A.

Let me get this straight. A mentally ill madman goes on a shooting spree to assassinate a United States Congressperson… and the lesson learned by liberals is that guns must be taken away from law-abiding citizens? Really? What’s the connection between a mentally ill nutcase and perfectly sane, responsible people? There is none. It’s no different than reacting to a drunk driver killing an entire family in a car accident and Congress proposing to ban driving for everyone. Or reacting by banning alcohol for all of us. Absurd, right? Except that was the reaction by liberal politicians across America to the Giffords tragedy.

This reminds me of being an elementary school student at the age of seven. One bad kid in school would do something wrong, and the teacher or principal would punish the whole class, or the whole school. Why? The rest of us were good kids. Why would we be punished for something a bad (or mentally unstable) kid chose to do? We did nothing wrong. What kind of message does it send when you punish good, responsible people for the acts of someone else? Does it motivate people to do good, or does it leave the rest of us angry, bitter and feeling persecuted for something we didn’t do?

There are so many reasons to keep guns legal for law abiding citizens, I can’t fit them all in this one commentary. But here are just a few:

First, banning or drastically limiting access to guns never stops criminals from obtaining guns. Drugs are banned in this country, yet they are everywhere. We can’t even keep drugs out of prison. If you ban guns, it doesn’t stop a single criminal or madman from getting them on the black market. It only prevents law-abiding citizens and business owners from defending themselves. Honest law-abiding Americans will be disarmed and at the mercy of thieves, home invaders, rapists, murderers, and madmen just like Congressman Giffords’ assassin.

Second, gun control makes totalitarian regimes possible. I am a Jew. I will never forget that the first thing Adolf Hitler did to imprison, enslave and murder 6 million of my people is pass a law that banned Jews from owning guns. Never again. The lesson of Hitler is that when you lose the right to bear arms and defend yourself, your family and your property, you are at the mercy of tyrants and madmen. Our Founding Fathers understood that clearly. That is precisely why they built the right to own guns into the Constitution. It had far less to do with citizen militias, than it did to allow citizens to defend themselves against a brutal government intent to violate their rights, or steal their property. The right to defend yourself is what insures freedom.

It is important to note that the Holocaust was not an exception. Name a country where a brutal dictator/tyrant killed millions of his own citizens -- Stalin in Russia, Mao in China, Hitler in Germany, Pol Pot in Cambodia -- in every case their first act was to disarm their citizens, thereby leaving them powerless and defenseless. If you want ruthless big government to control your life, by all means willingly give up your right to bear arms. But I will not.

Third, gun control is often racist as well. Here in America the urban areas populated by the highest percentage of minorities also happen to all have the strictest gun control laws. Has it worked? Name the city -- Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC, Newark, Baltimore. All the cities with the strictest gun control laws have the highest murder and violent crime rates. Why? Because you have left the citizens of those cities defenseless. Anyone who is a good person and the backbone of society -- homeowners, business owners, taxpayers with good jobs -- has too much to lose to risk breaking the law by buying a gun (if it’s illegal). But criminals have nothing to lose. When you ban guns, or make them difficult for law-abiding citizens to own them, it is open season on the good people in society. Criminals do just fine, the rest of us are left at the mercy of evil. Strict gun control is racist because it makes honest law-abiding African Americans and Hispanics living in crime-infested urban ghettos powerless to defend themselves or their families. Gun control gives the criminals the upper hand.

Now let’s look at the polar opposite. Look at suburbs and rural towns across the heartland (Midwest), South and Mountain West, where hunting is prevalent, and guns are legal and plentiful. What do you see in places where law-abiding citizens have easy access to guns? Low or no crime rates. The number of police is no higher, yet crime is far lower. The only difference is that the citizenry is armed. Criminals want no part of confronting armed homeowners or business owners.

Liberals often point to Europe’s strict gun laws as the model for America. My response is “NO THANKS.” I have no interest in becoming like the law-abiding homeowner in UK who defended his family and property by shooting a home invader, and was rewarded with a sentence of life in prison. If liberals like Europe so much, I have a simple answer: MOVE THERE.

I still remember when the Los Angeles riots hit in 1992. I was hosting several national TV shows on CNBC and living in the Hollywood Hills. My phone never stopped ringing. On the other end was every bleeding-heart liberal Hollywood actor and producer I knew -- all desperately begging to bring their families to my home because they knew I was armed.

America has a Constitution. It gives all law-abiding citizens the right to bear arms. That right is central to protecting our homes, families, businesses and property. It has been central to the remarkable success of America for over 200 years. God Bless America.

The Gabrielle Giffords Tragedy: How Liberal Media Distorted the Message and Lynched the Tea Party

What Mainstream Media- Including FOX News- Didn’t Tell You.

Is it the Tea Party to Blame, or the Media and Hollywood?

By Wayne Allyn Root

As Americans and simply decent human beings, all of us should be shocked and saddened by Saturday’s tragedy in Tucson, Arizona. Nineteen shot. Six are dead -- including a Federal Judge and an innocent nine-year-old girl. And a talented United States Congresswoman lies in a coma after being shot in the head. This is about tragedy and humanity. This isn’t about politics. There is nothing to spin here. A deranged man went on a killing rampage -- no more, no less.

This is no different than the Columbine, Colorado high school massacre of a decade ago. Did the media ask what the politics of the Columbine shooters were? No. Because that tragedy was about violent, mentally unstable, murdering madmen shooting everything in their path. Just like Saturday’s shooting rampage. When crazy people go wild, why do we look to blame someone, or some political philosophy? The blame is on the crazy person.

Yet on Saturday, as we surfed the Internet and watched the TV news, we saw the “blame game” on display again. Geraldo Rivera on Fox News attributing culpability to the Tea Party…and even trying to tie in Sarah Palin to boot. We heard liberal Democratic Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva blaming the Tea Party. We read leftist columnists at Huffington Post calling for reigning in the gun industry (even though Representative Giffords strongly supports the Second Amendment).

Giffords was barely out of surgery when the angry left had already formed a consensus -- "Let’s blame the Tea Party." Never let facts get in the way of a good liberal media lynching. Despite the nonstop ranting of the left accusing the Tea Party of inciting violence, there has NEVER been even one reported incidence of violence in the last two years at any Tea Party event in America. To my knowledge, there has never been one reported incidence of violence anywhere in this entire country committed by anyone tied to a Tea Party. That is an amazing record of peace, not violence.

Yet the liberal media and the angry left drone on with their slanderous storyline -- attempting to paint the Tea Party and those who support smaller government as nutty and violent, even though there is no known connection between the shooter and any Tea Party.

To the contrary, the shooter named “The Communist Manifesto” as one of his favorite books on his My Space page. Shouldn’t the media be making a connection to the left if this is the case? A former classmate described the shooter as a leftist. But that connection has not been mentioned by any media talking head I've seen. That would ruin the storyline.

And why no mention of the fact that “Mein Kampf” was the shooter’s other favorite book? Like me, Congressman Giffords is Jewish (the first Jewish Congressperson from Arizona). If the shooter is a fan of Hitler’s writings, and tried to assassinate a Jewish member of Congress, why isn’t he being painted as an anti-Semitic white supremacist? Because that storyline would not damage the Tea Party movement.

Gabrielle Giffords is not a liberal Congresswoman. She supports gun rights and wants to seal the border. She comes from a prominent family of Republican businesspeople. She is the only member of Congress married to an active military member (a Space Shuttle astronaut). She is nationally known as a blue dog Democrat. There is nothing ultra-liberal about her. She has more in common with Rush Limbaugh than Nancy Pelosi. So how would this assassination attempt by a deranged shooter who loved “The Communist Manifesto” be in any way Tea Party-related? It isn’t. But that would spoil the liberal media’s narrative.

We live in a world where the mainstream media, television and Hollywood glorify and hype violence 24 hours a day. “If it bleeds, it leads” is the mantra of TV news directors from coast to coast. The evening news is filled with murder, rape and violence sensationalized to pump up ratings. Even TV sports are in the business of promoting violence. Ever watch ESPN? At all hours of the day their sportscasters glorify violence and encourage more of it by screaming “He got JACKED UP!” Watch any video game, any movie, virtually any popular TV show -- the common ingredient is ever more extreme levels of violence.

We should all support free speech and the right of the TV, movie, or media industries to put whatever they want on the screen. I do. But if the media is going to look for someone to blame (in order to create controversy and pump up their ratings), shouldn’t they look in the mirror at their own contributions to the glorifying of violence? Isn’t it hypocritical, fraudulent and slanderous to blame Tea Party activists who have no connection whatsoever to this tragedy, and give a free pass towards ultra-liberal Hollywood and mainstream media? But again that would spoil the narrative.

In the end, our thoughts should not be engaged in the blame game. Our thoughts and prayers should be with Congresswoman Giffords, her hero patriot husband, and all the victims of this horrendous act of senseless brutality. There is only one person to blame- the shooter. But then admitting that is pretty boring. It doesn’t create controversy. It won’t raise ratings for the media. And it won’t slander and tarnish the Tea Party.
