What Happens to the Economy in Vegas, Doesn’t Stay in Vegas

The Obama apologists and mainstream media (sorry for repeating myself) claim the economy is improving and unemployment declining. Really? You mean like in Las Vegas? April’s numbers show joblessness fell in Nevada below 12% for the first time in 3 years. Hip Hip Hooray! Break out the champagne. Obama has pulled off a miracle. Right?

Well, not exactly. You see in Obama’s world, down is up, while misleading statistics and outright lies are “facts.” The truth is the shrinking unemployment number proves the job picture is getting worse, not better.

Let me explain. The only reason Obama can claim unemployment is shrinking is because people are leaving the workforce in droves. Here are the Las Vegas numbers- read ‘em and weep. The facts are that during the past 12 months 2000 Las Vegans found jobs, while 20,000 gave up looking for work. According to Obamanomics and his corrupt statisticians that means the unemployment rate went down. Does that make sense to you?

Under Obama, the worse things get, and the more desperate and discouraged people get, the more the unemployment rate improves…simply because they have given up on the idea of ever working for a living again.  But, of course, that is exactly his goal. In Obama’s world, more unemployed people needing government handouts means more Democrat voters.

As the facts in Las Vegas show, there is little or no job growth in America. Nothing. This supposed “good news” about unemployment is due to people giving up hope of finding a job. People in Nevada, and the rest of this country, are so discouraged they are dropping out of the workforce and no longer looking for a job.

“How are they surviving?” you might ask. Many are milking unemployment benefits until the last possible day, then switching to welfare, food stamps, and other government handouts. Some are 62 or older and stayed on unemployment just long enough to retire and seamlessly move on to Social Security after their jobless benefits are done.

Many are moving to the underground economy. They realize it just doesn’t pay to work a real 40-hour job for low wages and then pay an obscene portion of it in taxes to Uncle Sam. So, they are choosing to enter the cash economy where taxes are zero.

The worst news is that as their unemployment checks run out, many Americans are joining the disability rolls. Disability payments are at an all-time high, with almost 11 million Americans claiming to be too disabled to work. The shocking part is that almost 6 million of them joined the disability rolls in just the 3 short years since Obama became President.  Under Obama the disability rolls have increased far faster than the job rolls. Why haven’t we seen the national media report on that fact?

Newsweek just named Obama “The First Gay President.” Based on the numbers above, Newsweek should do a new cover story on “The Food Stamps and Disability President.”

Or better yet, how about an investigative report on “Gays under Obama: Married But Unemployed.”

Nancy Pelosi was right- under Obama economic growth is measured by unemployment benefits, welfare, disability and food stamps. Liberals count those as “growth,” simply because there’s not much other economic activity to count.

Back to Nevada’s statistics because they are eye-opening and show a pattern happening all across America. The Las Vegas labor force participation rate is down to 64.9%. That means only 64.9% of Adults actually working…35.1% are not working. Nationally it’s even worse- with only 63.6% of adults working, 36.4% are not. America is fast becoming…Greece.

The mainstream media and other Obama apologists should be ashamed of the fraudulent propaganda they are spreading about a shrinking unemployment rate. As the facts prove, it is only shrinking because more and more Americans no longer think it’s worth the effort to look for work. Why work when you can collect government benefits for 99 weeks of unemployment then start collecting welfare, food stamps, disability, or Social Security?

The brutal reality is that while he is using sham statistics to support his lies about creating jobs and reducing unemployment, Obama is succeeding beyond his wildest dreams in forcing millions of Americans to seek government support- thereby creating a dependent population he and his liberal cronies can manipulate.  It’s been said that liberalism is a disease. When it comes to Obama and the facts about job creation and unemployment, it is clearly a disease that leaves those afflicted blind, deaf, and dumb.

There is no “recovery.” There is only an unemployment, food stamp, and disability economy.

This is the brutal reality of the America we live in today. Once again, Las Vegas is the trend-setter that shows us the truth about pop culture. Unfortunately, what happens to the economy in Vegas, doesn’t stay in Vegas. This nightmare is happening all over Obama’s America.

Obama’s LBJ Moment

By Wayne Allyn Root

Tuesday was a very, very, bad day for President Obama — perhaps one of the darkest days in Presidential history. And, as usual, the biased mainstream media is nowhere to be found.

Obama had not one, but two Lyndon Johnson moments. Two signs so devastating that he ought to consider dropping out of the 2012 Presidential race. Obama’s situation was summed up by comedian Jimmy Kimmel who recently joked “There is a term for Obama. Not two terms. Just one term.”

Obama’s first LBJ moment occurred Tuesday in the West Virginia Democratic Presidential primary. Obama squeaked out a 59% to 41% victory.  You might ask, “Who got the 41%? I didn’t know Obama had an opponent for President on the Democrat side?” Good question. Obama didn’t know he had an opponent either. Neither did the media or the West Virginia Democrat Party.

The man who got 41%?  Inmate #11593-051. Yes, you heard correctly. A Texas prison inmate named Keith Judd, incarcerated for 17 years for extortion, won 41% of Democrat primary voters in West Virginia’s Presidential primary against Barack Obama, the incumbent President. Keep in mind these were Democrats, Obama’s most loyal voters.

But wait. It gets worse for Obama. Inmate #11593-051 won 10 West Virginia counties outright! Against a sitting Democratic President.

There are several conclusions to be drawn. First, Obama is in deep, deep, deep trouble.

Second, Obama can’t get back to the White House with the help of West Virginia. The state should be written off the Democratic Party’s electoral map. Just leave a great big blank space in the outline of West Virginia. The same blank space might cover the entire South, much of the Midwest, and the entire Rocky Mountain region. That’s a lot of blank space.

Third, Obama has become this generation’s Lyndon Johnson. In 1968 LBJ sadly came to the realization that his re-election was crippled by the Vietnam War. Forty-four years later, Obama must now come to the sad realization that his re-election has been crippled by an economic war. The economy is in free-fall. Obama is the CEO of the U.S. economy. Blaming it on someone else will no longer work. Not in the 4th year of his Presidency. Not as the number of Americans who have given up looking for work gets larger every month.

Bragging about killing Osama Bin Laden – didn’t help. Demanding free contraception from health insurance companies for women – didn’t help. Making a surprise visit to Afghanistan – didn’t help. Coming out in favor of gay marriage – won’t help. In the end it’s all about dollars and cents. “Jobs” is the only issue that will elect the next President of the United States. And Obama has failed miserably. Tuesday’s West Virginia “LBJ moment” proves that even Obama is not too big to fail. It also proves that Americans are fed up with Obama’s regulatory attack on the U.S. economy, in this case destroying the West Virginia coal industry.

This story also, once again, proves the mainstream media are “in the bag” for Obama. This hasn’t been big news. What? Can you imagine if a prison inmate had gotten 41% of the vote and won 10 counties against George W. Bush in a Presidential primary? This would have made headlines across the world. They’d be talking about it in sub Saharan Africa. The angry “Arab Spring” mobs would be chanting about it in Egypt. And Bill Maher would be making prison rape jokes about Bush.

I’m betting Bill Maher doesn’t open his HBO show with this story. Because of pure bias, he’ll be missing the story of the year.

The common sense country folks of West Virginia sent a warning shot over the bow of the U.S.S. Obama. They screamed to the rest of America that “Anyone– Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, or even a prison inmate- is better than what we’ve got running the country now.”

And then there’s Indiana. The Hoosier state provided Obama’s second Lyndon Johnson moment on Tuesday. A 6-term Republican incumbent, Dick Lugar, was defeated in the GOP Senate primary by a Tea Party favorite. This is a clear sign that the Tea Party has roared back to life just in time for the 2012 elections.

Lyndon Johnson took the hint in 1968. It’s time for Obama to realize the light at the end of the tunnel is a train headed straight for him at 200 MPH. It’s time to move out of the way. The peasants with the pitchforks are coming.

What I Told the Students at Harvard About Capitalism

What I Told the Students at Harvard About Capitalism

As a lifelong capitalist evangelist, serial entrepreneur, and Reagan Libertarian, I was asked to deliver a lecture about the virtues of capitalism, entrepreneurship and fiscal conservatism at Harvard University. I was unsure if my message and personal story would be welcomed, or even understood. I am thrilled to report that even at the world’s greatest institution of learning (and liberalism), capitalism and entrepreneurship are alive, well, and still celebrated. Students actually reported my speech has changed the direction of their lives- they now want to be entrepreneurs.

The lesson is that if capitalism and entrepreneurship are presented with enthusiasm, passion, energy, and honest personal stories, they will be accepted and celebrated everywhere in the world- even the intellectual, liberal halls of Harvard.

The key is to counter Obama’s message, who speaking at a university in Florida only days ago, described capitalism as “a broken down theory,” blaming it for the current economic problems. Free market Libertarians and fiscal conservatives need to courageously enter the lion’s den and speak at universities with the polar opposite message. We need to be evangelists. We need to recruit and sell our vision to students. We need to explain how only capitalism gives young people the opportunity to change their lives and live their dreams. Only capitalism lifts people from poverty, or the middle class, to the life of their dreams. Only capitalism creates true hope and opportunity. Only capitalism motivates the creators and producers of this world to make the impossible, possible.

Capitalism created the cure for polio, and capitalism will someday cure cancer and AIDS. Capitalism created desktop computers, the Internet, smartphones, I-Tunes, I-Pads, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, texting, and DirecTV. The things that shape our world were not created in Cuba, the Soviet Union, or the old People’s Republic of China. And they weren’t created by government either. They were created by entrepreneurs hoping to change the world, and get rich doing it!

The key is to tell our personal stories. Obama and those who hate capitalism don’t have those stories. They have never created anything with their own smarts, work ethic, creativity, while risking their own money. They’ve never created jobs, donated millions to charity, or dramatically changed lives with their innovations, products, or payrolls. All the Obama’s of the world know about is taking tax dollars from the job creators and financial risk-takers,and redistributing it as bribes to their voters.

Obama’s failed policies have proven he has the same level of knowledge about economics, capitalism, and entrepreneurship as I have of ballet – which is zero.

I spoke to hundreds of students in Professor Michael Parzen’s class (one of the largest at Harvard) about the exciting ups and downs of my career. I spoke about the relentless battles to build my businesses. I spoke about the failures and lows I’ve experienced, as well as the lessons I learned that enabled me to turn lemons into lemonade.

I told them about the remarkable results, against the longest odds, I’ve achieved as an entrepreneur and dreamer. I taught them it was all made possible by capitalism. As Don King would say, “Only in America.”

I told them about the leap of faith required of entrepreneurs- to believe in and pursue your dreams against the negativity of critics, cynics, and naysayers. I told them about the mental, physical and spiritual strength required to survive the rejections, disappointments, and challenges. I told them about the amazing rewards achieved when you turn your dreams into reality. I told them how entrepreneurs don’t need alcohol or drugs- we get high on life!

I taught them that success requires you be relentless. You must never stop believing in you, your dreams, and your talents. You must never stop fighting like a cornered wolverine. You must never lose faith in God, country, or yourself.

I told them to find their passion, because passion unleashes purpose and enthusiasm. I told them to attack each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. I told them to say “YES” to every single request made of them in the business world. That’s how you make yourself irreplaceable- even during the worst economy of our lifetimes.

Then I asked the Harvard students to raise their hands if they agreed I had energy, enthusiasm and passion. All of them raised their hands with big smiles and loud laughs. Yes they all agreed ENTHUSIASTICALLY that I had enthusiasm.

Then I asked them to compare my energy and enthusiasm with an employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles. The auditorium went wild! Pandemonium. Smiles. Laughing. Sparkles in their eyes. Everyone got it. With this example even college students at Harvard clearly understood the difference between entrepreneurs and government employees.

Everyone instantly gets “it.” That is the reason government fails at everything it does. That is the reason our economy is in shambles and there are no new jobs. The wrong people are in charge of the economy. The solution is simple- Only the private sector can truly create jobs. Only the heroic “fly boys” of the business world, the guys and gals with the massive levels of energy, enthusiasm and confidence can turnaround the U.S. economy. Entrepreneurs and their small businesses create 75% of new jobs. Those are America’s heroes. They must be appreciated, motivated, and rewarded- not punished.

Those with enthusiasm, energy, and can-do spirit go into business. Those without those talents, skills, or attributes often go into government. I have no problem with either kind of person. There are heroes in both groups. But you can’t let those without energy, enthusiasm, or can-do spirit make the rules for the economy. Just as you shouldn’t ask me to run the ballet.

Government can’t save us. Government can only make things worse. We are currently letting the wrong people run the economy, create the rules, tax the motivation and inspiration out of our entrepreneurial heroes. They are strangling hope, ruining ambition, dampening enthusiasm, and killing the American Dream. Obama is killing so many jobs, he should be at the top of the FBI’s Most Wanted List.

Even at Harvard I hope they now understand this.

God Bless capitalism. God Bless America.
